Foreign Business Language Training

When it comes to business, one of the most important criteria is the proficiency of the language that is used in conducting the business. This is not only important in a business that operates locally within a country where in one country there can be more than one spoken or written language but also internationally. Therefore, it is essential that a company regardless it operating locally or internationally, a business language training course should be conducted.

When a new recruit is hired in a company, they are usually given language training. In most countries, the essential language training would be English as most medium of business is in English. In example, international companies such as Shell which is an oil and gas industry makes sure that all their employees are fluent in both conversing and writing in English where they have workshops dedicated purposely for their employees to learn the English language during the language training session.

Of course most companies would use English as the main medium of instruction but there are companies that originally do not use English as a medium of instruction but their own mother tongue as a means of business. This particular information is true for companies that are located in China where they use Mandarin or Cantonese, companies located in Canada and France that uses French and the Spanish language for companies that are located at North and South America.

Once you have come to know that you will be working with a company that needs you to learn a new language, it is smart to learn the language before hand through some proper language courses. This is important because not only does it show that you are hardworking where you initiated the learning by yourself without having the company to nag you to do so but it is an advantage for you once you arrive to that country. The advantage of taking a language course beforehand is that you will already be able to read the road signs and documents as well as converse with the local people without being treated like a tourist.

French and Spanish are the two most common languages that is conducted during a business language training for employees that are being transferred to another country. French course is usually given to employees that are going to be working in Canada or at the western part of the African continent. The reason that French courses are conducted is that French is the major language spoken throughout the countries within the area and learning it would ease the transition in getting used to the new language.

Besides that, Spanish lessons are usually given as a business language training when an employee has plans to be transferred to either North or South America or western Europe. In these countries, Spanish is used as the first language and it is useful when one goes out to the streets.

As a bonus, although not required, an employee may opt to take internationally recognized examinations for the French courses and Spanish lessons taken. For the French courses, the examination is known as DELF while for Spanish lessons, it would be DELE.
